Literature Text

There I saw you standing,
Bowing, bent over double,
I turned my face away
To ignore my little flame,
And when you kissed my hand,
I pursed my lips in shame.

Under the most unlikely of circumstances
We met beneath the flowering tree of life.
With the strangest dispositions
And the strongest dislike of each other,
We formed a bond
That we could not break.

I turned my back and walked away,
Preferring to stay untouched
Than to succumb to your charming ways,
And when you followed me
I could not hide my discomfort
At the way you read me so easily.

With a gleam in our eyes
That spoke of grudging understanding,
We took on a world that knew us not
And set ourselves against this evil plot,
And with our minds set toward the same goal,
We began to understand our need.

I tossed my hair at your flippancy,
And you gave me that wicked little grin.
I smirked in your direction for a moment,
And you rewarded me with a sultry smile.
I shook my head and turned away,
And you took my hand to keep me here.

With a mutual smile on our faces,
We plunged ahead almost blindly,
Tearing through the obstacles
That would dare get in our way,
And all the while we began to learn
That we aren't so different after all.

With my hand over your heart
And your heart in the palm of my hand,
I looked into your eyes and saw the truth
That I had been hiding from myself so long,
That I have grown to need you,
The soldier of my heart.
Uhm... Because I can? ^_^ :3
