Spring:
The time of new life,
New expectations,
And new strife,
When the old
Is replaced with the new,
The cold is replaced with the warm,
And many replace the few,
A time when the sun
Smiles upon the Earth,
The moon glows with warmth,
And the wind laughs with mirth.
The crickets sing,
The birds fly,
The snow melts;
Is this the time to die?

Summer:
The time of heat,
Nights spent wide awake,
And bare feet,
When sweat is a way of life,
Cold doesn't mean snow,
There are more insects than air,
And the fireflies glow,
A time when the sun
Sears the Earth's crust,
The moon gives off heat,
And the wind blows the dust.
The cicadas chirp,
The dogs lie,
The heat bakes;
Is this the time to die?

Autumn:
The time of chill,
Bonfires in the backyard,
And insects becoming still,
When the heats begins the fade,
The leaves begin to fall,
Animals start to hibernate,
And the rest stare at the beauty of it all,
A time when the sun
Starts to turn away,
The moon grows cold,
And the wind won't stay.
The leaves fall,
The warmth says goodbye,
The beauty astounds;
Is this the time to die?

Winter:
The time of cold,
Snow,
And hands to hold,
When ice forms,
Water begins to freeze,
Snow sparkles on the ground,
And noses sneeze,
A time when the sun
Provides light but little heat,
The moon is a sphere of ice,
And the wind can mercilessly beat.
The icicles sparkle,
The wind heaves a sigh,
The light is brittle;
Is this the time to die?

End:
Everyone must end,
But why must it be so?
Why can't the rules bend?
And if it must be over,
Can we choose when
It is that the journey stops?
No? Why can't it be, then?
Those who love them
Do not want to see the light go out,
Do not want to see the eyes close,
Or utter the agonized shouts.
The sun sets,
The message sends,
We all gather,
To witness their ends.
