Literature Text

On this occasion,
A hallowed night,
Ghouls come out to play and
Spirits walk in plain sight.
It is a time for laughter and fright,
For children to chase each other all day.
And when, unseen to dressed-up children,
True spirits come out to play.
The dead mingle with the living,
Scaring them mindless
Or imparting words of wisdom
Or getting grievances of their chests.
Vampires come out,
Demons walk,
Witches fly,
And the dead talk.
And I, a sultry succubus,
Feel the power of the night take hold,
And when you, unsuspecting mortal male,
Into the deepest sleep do fold,
I will tantalize your dreams
With visions of my seductive self encroaching.
You, sweet, fragile mortal man, do not even know
That your own final demise is fast approaching.
For with these vivid dreams of me
Comes the drain of your life's energy.
It will sustain me for years to come,
And you, silly mortal, will no longer be.
I do enjoy this hallowed night,
When my power is at its peak
And more is mine for the taking,
So for silly mortal men I will seek.
Because I just love Halloween! And the prompt is fun! So yay! Enjoy my poem!
